Creative Keyboard Club June 2018 Meeting

Marlene Forrest was once again MC for the occasion and the arrival music was played on keyboard by Peter Jackson.

Peter Jackson on vocals with backing music from his keyboard 'Let there Be Love' and 'When You Say Nothing At All'
Mary Barrett on keyboard with 'The Lady Is A Tramp' and 'Little Arrows'
Denise Gunson on clavinova with 'Cavatina' and 'Come Fly With Me'
After the raffles were drawn and a cuppa Ben Fernandez entertained on clavinova (and new drum machine). Ben played an assortment of styles, Latin American, Swing, Tango, Waltz. Songs included 'Love Story Theme', 'Fly Me To The Moon', 'Spanish Eyes', 'Walk In The Black Forest', 'Paper Roses', 'Que Sera Sera', 'Autumn Leaves' (demonstrating a shift from Latin to Swing beats), 'Amore'. Ben's 8 year old son Joshua played a very competent 'Havana' on clavinova showing he is following very much in his dad's footsteps! A very pleasant and entertaining afternoon.

Roy Steen ended the first half on keyboard with some Show stoppers 'There's No Business Like Show Business', 'Whistle a Happy Tune', 'Good Morning', 'Shall We Dance', 'Getting to Know You'

Our guest today was Taka Iida on his Stagea. Taka's performance included 'Frozen' (Disney), a latin bracket including 'Girl From Ipanema', 'Wave'. Old favourites included 'Night and Day', 'I Will always Love You', 'Saving All My Love For You',  'A Whiter Shade of Pale' and a Choir segment. Very much enjoyed as always Taka.

Marlene Forrest was the MC for the occasion and the arrival music was played by Rob Powell. This was also our AGM. Unfortunately the advertised performers were unable to attend today due to illness.

After the meeting Denise Gunson performed on clavinova with 'Send In The Clowns' and 'Night And Day'
Lynn and Allan Powell then entertained after the tea break. Songs included 'Welcome to My World', 'Singing The Blues', 'Waltz Across Texas'. 'Send Me The Pillow', 'Funny Face', Ten Guitars', 'You Can Dance', 'Forget To Remember' and ' Love Me Tender'. Thank You All for stepping up today and at such short notice.

Our guest was Jim Joll and this was his debut at the club. Jim is a fine guitarist, singer, comedian and compere and entertained with many well known country songs encouraging us to sing-a-long. Songs included 'Lil Ole Wine Drinker Me', 'Welcome To My World', 'Memories are Made Of This', 'I Walk The Line', 'Rhinestone Cowboy'. Instrumentals also with 'Cavatina' and 'Summer Wind'. Much appreciated Jim.

Afternoon tea was then had and raffles drawn.

This was our Club Christmas Party. MC was Marlene Forrest, arrival Music by Mary Barrett on keyboard and our guest artiste was Sandy Lynch on clavinova.

Denise Gunson on clavinova with some Christmas Songs ('Away in a Manger', 'Silent Night', 'I'll Be Home For Christmas'), 'I Love You For Sentimental Reasons', 'Sentimental Journey', 'Close To Me', and 'Moon River'
Mary Barrett on her korg Pa4X keyboard with a medley from Grease ('Summer Nights', 'Freddy, My Love', 'Greased Lightnin', 'We Go Together') and 'I Can't get Started'
After a festive afternoon tea, including a wonderful Christmas Cake, the numerous Christmas hamper Raffles were drawn by Santa (Dave Winslade).

Our ever popular guest Sandy Lynch then entertained on clavinova with a variety of genres ... Boogie Woogie, Ragtime, March, Jazz, Movie Themes and Christmas Songs. Songs included 'The Christmas Song', 'Nutcracker Boogie', 'This Could Be the Start of Something Big', 'Jingle Bells', Carol Medley ('Deck The Halls', 'Hark The Herald Angels Sing', 'Away In A Manger'), 'Begin The Beguine', 'Georgia On My Mind', and concluded with 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town'. Wonderful Sandy!
