July Meeting

Our July afternoon commenced with some very nice easy listening arrival music played by John Beales on his
Korg Keyboard.
On this cold but sunny afternoon it was great to see a good number of members and  some Guests at the  Club.
Our own club members played for the first half of the afternoon. First up was Skip Eade who played on his Korg PA1X  "If"  and  "Maggie". Next came Marlene Forrest who played for us on our New Yamaha Clavinova CPV 407. Marlene played "Air on a G String"  and " Puppet on a String".
Jimmy Puppyn on her Yamaha Keyboard was next with "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" and " I Wish You Love".
Barbara McNab followed with "Mood Indigone" and "Send in the Clowns".

We then listened to Peter Littlejohn playing his PA1X Korg Keyboard, singing along to his own music. His choice of songs were "Stumbling In " and "Angels".
Colin Crane wound up the first half, again on Piano with "When I wish Upon a Star", " What Kind of Fool am I" and "You Need Me"

After a welcomed Hot cup of tea or coffee we continued our afternoon with our Guest Artist Chris Larking, who of course is well known to us all and a very popular Guest at the club at any time.

Chris also bought along a lovely friend Aria who sang some very lovely songs finishing with "Stormy Weather". Hopefully we will hear more of Aria in Months to come.

Chris continue in his usual wonderful style on our new Piano, commenting that he thought it a great asset to the club as he thought the quality of the sounds was a least twice as good as our CVP 303 which we have had for a few years and was well up with the lastest technology when we purchased it.
Technology is cerainly moving along and the Pianos are getting better and better.

It was a fun afternoon enjoyed very much by all

May Meeting

Thanks to Ken Wootton for playing the arrival music on our brand new Clavinova CVP407. This meeting marked a very special occasion for our oldest member Marjory Allison who turned 100 years old on 19 June. We have now made her an Honorary Member– she joins ranks with Peter Torckler (not that he is 100 yet, mind you).
Then the program ran as follows:
Chelsea Lumb - My Immortal (Clavinova)
Alan Dadson - A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Sq and Plaisir de Amor (Clavinova)
Rob & Barbara Powell - Just Another Polka (Clavinova/Tyros 3 duet)
Lonely Shepherd (Barbara– Tyros 3) That’s All (Rob– Clavinova)and Simple Melody (Clavinova/Tyros 3 duet)
Dave Hallam - Pieu Jesu, All of Me and Moonlight Serenade on our new Yamaha Clavinova CVP407. The instrument plays and feels wonderful!
After tea we welcomed Guest Artist Marian Burns. Well– what a show. This lady is a genius on her violin and provided us with an absolute smorgasbord of melodies which were accompanied by excellent backing tracks. I feel certain in saying that Marian held everyone’s attention for every single minute that she played. Our thanks to her for providing a superb 45 minutes of entertainment enjoyed by all.
