Creative Keyboard Club May 2013 Meeting

Creative Keyboard Club May Meeting

Our arrival music was played by Peter Littlejohn on Clavinova. Peter stepped in for Peter Jackson who will be playing our arrival music next month.
Thank You Peter.

Len Osbourne began with 'Whispering' and a jazzy 'Summertime' on keyboard. Thank You Len.

Jimmy Puppyn was next on her keyboard with 'Oh My Beloved Father' and 'Moonglow'. The style was superb Jimmy.

Michael Branley on his new Yamaha PSR-S950 played 'Pie Jesu' and 'Crusing Down the River' with vocal harmony.  A great keyboard feature and done very well Michael. We all enjoyed your performance.

Diana Drineen played at short notice with a bouncy and true to the original 'Delilah' and 'Save Your Kisses for Me'. Very nice Diana.

Pam Rea was next with 'From a Distance' and 'My Friend' on keyboard very nicely. Thank You Pam.

Our guest artists duo Allan and Lynne Powell then took over with Alan playing his Yamaha and both providing vocals until our special Mother's Day afternoon tea - Thank You helpers. They resumed thereafter. Over a dozen popular tunes including some great old and new Country and a mix of old favourites from the likes of Don Williams and Harry Belafonte. Amazing vocals guys and good to see the audience participation. We hope your speaker survives! Thank You both and we hope to see you again soon.

Denise Gunson rushed along from a previous venue and played 'Charmaine' and 'All I Ask of You' on Clavinova in her distinctive Gunson style. Thank You very much Denise - we always enjoy your playing.

(Sorry, no pics this time as Mother's Day threw us girls off our stride and we forgot cameras :(

Creative Keyboard Club April 2013 Meeting

Creative Keyboard Club April Meeting

The arrival music was played by Diane Lyons. We Thank You Diane. This was followed by the AGM and if you wish a copy of the Minutes please contact Philippa Zink.
First of our players was Sylvia Joseph with 'Rambling Rose' and 'Only Dreams will Do'. You swung those along very nicely Sylvia.

Next was Colin Crann on Clavinova with movie themes 'At Last' and 'Pennies from Heaven'. Thank You Colin.
Diane Lyons treated us again with a Medley of Broadway Songs and even gave us some vocals: 'Give My Regards to Broadway', 'Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend', 'If My Friends Could See Me Now.'  She then sang along with her  accompanimment 'I'll See You Again' (whenever Springtime breaks through again).

Barbara McNab played on the Clavinova 'Solitaire' and 'Chatanooga Shoe Shine Boy' which was a new one to a lot of us. Thank You Barbara.

After our tea break our guests The North Shore Music Makers Accordian Orchestra entertained us under the baton of Christine Johnston. It was lovely to see all those young faces having fun and several soloists took the floor. Among them were Catrina Lin, Craig Jeffries, Jessie Chen, Adam Perry, Annabel Ding, Corey Jeffries, Ben Drury and Alexandra Reekie.

Lionel Reekie and Maurice Jones then dueted on accordian with some vocals from Lionel. They played a Blues, and a Latin American bracket which included  'Por Una Cabeza' (the tango from Scent of A Woman). These were videoed for World Accordian Day and ended with a jazzy rendition of 'Pokarekare Ana' .... very appropriate for the New Zealand componment of World Accordian Day 2013.  If you scroll down to the NZ segment of the page link Lionel and Maurice are around the 14min mark of the video. Thank you all you gave us some worldclass entertainment and we look forward to seeing Lionel back in November.
