Creative Keyboard Club May 2018 Meeting

Marlene Forrest was MC for the occasion and the arrival music was played by Michael Bramley on keyboard.
Our program …
Diane Lyons on keyboard with 'The Nearness of You' (with vocals) and a sing-a-long medley of  'Irish Eyes', 'Daisy', 'I Belong to Glasgow', 'Cruising Down the River'
Marlene Forrest on keyboard with 'Taking a Chance on Love' and 'Smoke Gets in Your Eyes'
Michael Bramley was back with 'Music Box Dancer' and 'What a Wonderful World'
Roy Steen ended the first half on keyboard with some Show stoppers 'There's No Business Like Show Business', 'Whistle a Happy Tune', 'Good Morning', 'Shall We Dance', 'Getting to Know You'

Our guest today was Taka Iida on his Stagea. Taka's performance included 'Frozen' (Disney), a latin bracket including 'Girl From Ipanema', 'Wave'. Old favourites included 'Night and Day', 'I Will always Love You', 'Saving All My Love For You',  'A Whiter Shade of Pale' and a Choir segment. Very much enjoyed as always Taka.

Creative Keyboard Club April 2018 Meeting

Marlene Forrest was the MC for the occasion and the arrival music was played by Rob Powell. This was also our AGM. Unfortunately the advertised performers were unable to attend today due to illness.
Program ...
After the meeting Denise Gunson performed on clavinova with 'Send In The Clowns' and 'Night And Day'
Lynn and Allan Powell then entertained after the tea break. Songs included 'Welcome to My World', 'Singing The Blues', 'Waltz Across Texas'. 'Send Me The Pillow', 'Funny Face', Ten Guitars', 'You Can Dance', 'Forget To Remember' and ' Love Me Tender'. Thank You All for stepping up today and at such short notice.

Creative Keyboard Club March 2018 Meeting

Marlene Forrest was our MC today and Rob Powell played the arrival music on keyboard.

Dave Winslade on his Tyros 4 with 'El Condor Paso' and ' I Just Can't Help Believing' (with vocals)
Barbara Powell on keyboard with 'I Just Fell In Love Again' and 'Ave Maria'
Diana Dreaneen on keyboard with 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again' (from Phantom) and 'Swinging Shepherd Blues'
Rob Powell was back on keyboard with 'You Belong To Me' and 'Taking A Chance On Love'
Barbara McNab on keyboard with 'Top of The World' and 'Bolero'
Our guest was Jim Joll and this was his debut at the club. Jim is a fine guitarist, singer, comedian and compere and entertained with many well known country songs encouraging us to sing-a-long. Songs included 'Lil Ole Wine Drinker Me', 'Welcome To My World', 'Memories are Made Of This', 'I Walk The Line', 'Rhinestone Cowboy'. Instrumentals also with 'Cavatina' and 'Summer Wind'. Much appreciated Jim.

Audrey Hendon on clavinova with 'Nearness of You' and 'Ashno Kan Farewell' (Chopin)
Rob Powell on keyboard with 'I Know Why' and 'Coffee Song'
Hanna Tani on clavinova with 'Sonata in C Major' (Hadyn) and 'Circle of Life'
Roy Steen was back on keyboard with 'Natures Way Of Living' and 'Just One of Those Things'
Afternoon tea was then had and raffles drawn.
Denise Gunson then entertained with a selection of favourites. Thank you Denise for being the trooper you are and stepping in at such short notice. Thanks to all our players today.

Creative Keyboard Club December 2017 Meeting

This was our Club Christmas Party. MC was Marlene Forrest, arrival Music by Mary Barrett on keyboard and our guest artiste was Sandy Lynch on clavinova.
Our Program ...
Rob Powell on clavinova with 'You Make Me Feel So Young', a foxtrot Medley (which included 'Darktown Strutters Ball', '5ft 2'), 'A Nightingale Sang' and the 'Coffee Song'
Denise Gunson on clavinova with some Christmas Songs ('Away in a Manger', 'Silent Night', 'I'll Be Home For Christmas'), 'I Love You For Sentimental Reasons', 'Sentimental Journey', 'Close To Me', and 'Moon River'
Mary Barrett on her korg Pa4X keyboard with a medley from Grease ('Summer Nights', 'Freddy, My Love', 'Greased Lightnin', 'We Go Together') and 'I Can't get Started'
After a festive afternoon tea, including a wonderful Christmas Cake, the numerous Christmas hamper Raffles were drawn by Santa (Dave Winslade).

Our ever popular guest Sandy Lynch then entertained on clavinova with a variety of genres ... Boogie Woogie, Ragtime, March, Jazz, Movie Themes and Christmas Songs. Songs included 'The Christmas Song', 'Nutcracker Boogie', 'This Could Be the Start of Something Big', 'Jingle Bells', Carol Medley ('Deck The Halls', 'Hark The Herald Angels Sing', 'Away In A Manger'), 'Begin The Beguine', 'Georgia On My Mind', and concluded with 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town'. Wonderful Sandy!

George Markwick on his korg keyboard with 'By The Light of The Silvery Moon' and 'Send Me The Pillow That You Dream On'
Ora Lefebvre sang 'Night and Day' a capella
Allan Powell on his Yamaha keyboard with 'Hey Jude' and 'Roll Out The Barrell'
Denise Gunson on clavinova with 'Tenderly' and 'Moonlight Serenade'
Mary Barrett finished off the first half with 'Whistling Rufus' and the theme to 'Picnic' (from the movie of the same name and coupled with 'Moonglow')

Our guest today was Joe Fingers (pianos, keyboard, vocals) accompanied by Murray Merssen (Clarinet and Sax). Joe started as always with the 'William Tell Overture'. This duo performed many old favourites including 'Johnstone Rag' (3 keyboards + clarinet), 'Where The River Shannon Flows', 'Hold Me', 'Stranger On The Shore', a unique rendition of 'Nola', 'Where or When', some Mozart, an Irish medley (complete with tin whistle), some Dixieland and ended with 'My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean' and 'I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now'. Tributes to the late great Colin Meads (to the tune of 'My Old Man's a Dustman') and to the Black Ferns (to the tune of 'Rhinestone Cowboy') were both written and performed by Joe. A very lively and entertaining afternoon. Thank you All.
