Creative Keyboard Club March 2018 Meeting

Barbara Powell on keyboard with 'I Just Fell In Love Again' and 'Ave Maria'
Diana Dreaneen on keyboard with 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again' (from Phantom) and 'Swinging Shepherd Blues'
Rob Powell was back on keyboard with 'You Belong To Me' and 'Taking A Chance On Love'
Barbara McNab on keyboard with 'Top of The World' and 'Bolero'
Our guest was Jim Joll and this was his debut at the club. Jim is a fine guitarist, singer, comedian and compere and entertained with many well known country songs encouraging us to sing-a-long. Songs included 'Lil Ole Wine Drinker Me', 'Welcome To My World', 'Memories are Made Of This', 'I Walk The Line', 'Rhinestone Cowboy'. Instrumentals also with 'Cavatina' and 'Summer Wind'. Much appreciated Jim.

Mary Barrett on her korg Pa4X keyboard with a medley from Grease ('Summer Nights', 'Freddy, My Love', 'Greased Lightnin', 'We Go Together') and 'I Can't get Started'
After a festive afternoon tea, including a wonderful Christmas Cake, the numerous Christmas hamper Raffles were drawn by Santa (Dave Winslade).

George Markwick on his korg keyboard with 'By The Light of The Silvery Moon' and 'Send Me The Pillow That You Dream On'
Ora Lefebvre sang 'Night and Day' a capella
Allan Powell on his Yamaha keyboard with 'Hey Jude' and 'Roll Out The Barrell'
Denise Gunson on clavinova with 'Tenderly' and 'Moonlight Serenade'
Mary Barrett finished off the first half with 'Whistling Rufus' and the theme to 'Picnic' (from the movie of the same name and coupled with 'Moonglow')
Our guest today was Joe Fingers (pianos, keyboard, vocals) accompanied by Murray Merssen (Clarinet and Sax). Joe started as always with the 'William Tell Overture'. This duo performed many old favourites including 'Johnstone Rag' (3 keyboards + clarinet), 'Where The River Shannon Flows', 'Hold Me', 'Stranger On The Shore', a unique rendition of 'Nola', 'Where or When', some Mozart, an Irish medley (complete with tin whistle), some Dixieland and ended with 'My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean' and 'I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now'. Tributes to the late great Colin Meads (to the tune of 'My Old Man's a Dustman') and to the Black Ferns (to the tune of 'Rhinestone Cowboy') were both written and performed by Joe. A very lively and entertaining afternoon. Thank you All.

Ever popular guest Chris Larking brought his family along. Joshua on Guitar and vocals, Alex on Saxophone, with Julie on video. Chris started the program on clavinova with "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". Songs included "Fly Me To The Moon" (Josh vocals), "Satin Doll", "New York, New York" (Josh guitar), "Baker Street" (Alex Sax), "St. Elmo's Fire", "I Dreamed A Dream", "Moon Over Bourbon Street" (Josh guitar and vocals), "The Sound of Silence", "Song For Guy" (very tricky backing Chris), "Party Rockers Solo" (the Larking Trio). Chris ended with a medley of "Ode To Joy", "Waltzing Matilda" and concluded with our National Anthem. Well Done Larking Family - we thoroughly enjoyed your playing!
