Rob (clavinova) and Barbara Powell (keyboard) entertained with their 'Let's Do It Again/Charleston' bracket followed by 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes\In The Mood'
Denise Gunson on clavinova with 'Theme from Romeo and Juliet' and 'September In The Rain'. Denise has her CD out and is taking orders
As there was still a little time left Mary finished with 'I Talk To The Trees' on keyboard.
Our guests today were Ben Fernandez and Jess Rogers (vocals) and their theme was 'Weather'. Songs included 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow', 'Blue Skies', 'Sunny Side of The Street', 'Stormy Weather' boogie, 'Sunny', 'Summertime' (vocals), 'Cry Me A River', 'How About a Dance' (from Bonnie and Clyde, vocals), 'My Blue Heaven'. Jess is a wonderful Jazz singer showing a lot of maturity for her 17 years. Ben was then joined by son Joshua (7) playing duets to round off the afternoon. Ben also has a new CD which is available.

Creative Keyboard Club February 2017 Meeting
Our first meeting of the year. The MC was Marlene Forrest and the arrival music was played on his korg keyboard by Roy Steen.
Our program ...
As is our tradition President Marlene started the year off on her Tyros 4 with 'Begin The Beguine' and 'A Summer Place'
Dorothy Waddell played on Clavinova 'Going Home' and 'Just a Simple Melody'
Barbara McNab on the Tyros 4 with 'Budapest' and 'Georgie Girl'
Roy Steen was back with some marches and was joined by Audrey Henden who sang Volare (in Italian and English). A hidden talent there, Audrey has a wonderful singing voice!
David Winslade on the Tyros with 'Amazing Grace' and 'Pretty Woman' (with lyrics)
Many thanks to all our players today ... we've started the year off with a bang!
If anyone is interested in playing over the next few months please let Marlene know, you don't have to be an expert ... all ages and levels are very welcome.
Our guest today was Murray Hancox on clavinova. Murray started with 'Save The Last Dance For Me' (vocals), 'Behind Closed Doors' (for Marlene) and took many requests including 'Misty', 'Chariots of Fire', 'Ipanema' (vocals), 'Fields Of Gold', 'Danny Boy (vocals), 'Autumn Leaves', 'Rum and Coca Cola', 'A Lovely Day' (vocals). A very versatile and professional performer with many off the cuff renditions thoroughly appreciated by all. Thank you Murray.

Taka Iida on his D-Deck (which is also for sale) with 'Jingle bells', 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'Girl From Ipanema', and 'Penelope'
Sandy Lynch (professional cocktail pianist and teacher) on clavinova with 'Jingle bells', 'The Christmas Song', 'Let It Snow', 'It's a Lovely Time of The Year'
After the raffles were drawn by Santa (Dave Winslade) and a sumptuous afternoon tea (Thank You committee) was had we were priviledged to have Joe Fingers (keyboard, clavinova), his wife Jill (vocals) and Murray Merssen (clarinet, saxophone) entertain us.

This versatile trio really got us into the Christmas mood with a variety of different styles from 'The Entry of The Queen of Sheba' to old favourites 'All of Me' (Jill), 'Silver Bells', 'Sail Along Silvery Moon' (Murray, Joe), 'O Holy Night' (Jill), 'Stranger On The Shore' (Murray), '12th Street Rag', 'Snoopys Christmas', 'Feliz Navidad' (Please Love Your Dad) with jokes interspersed by Joe. Some Malaysian, Irish and Dixieland tunes for all tastes. Thank you, we can't wait to hear you again.
A lovely ending to our musical year everyone!

Aria Holton on her yamaha with 'On This Swing' and 'Yesterday'
Diane Lyons on her yamaha with 'Moulin Rouge' and 'Mame' (with vocals)
Diana Dreaneen was back with a medley of 'Little Brown Jug', 'American Patrol' and 'Kiss Me Honey Honey'. Followed by 'Phantom'
Denise Gunson on Clavinova with 'Taste of Honey' and 'Desperado'
Our guest was pianist/singer Murray McIlwraith who entertained on clavinova. Murray played and sang a mix of popular classics: 'Over The Rainbow', 'Ain't Mis'behavin', 'All Of Me', 'Sunny side of The Street', 'The Lady is A Tramp', 'You're A Lady', 'As Time Goes By', 'All The Things You Are', 'A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square', and which included some real oldies but goodies 'If You Were The Only Girl In The World', 'Sally', 'Lullaby Of Birdland'. It was Murray's first performance at the club and thoroughly enjoyed by all I'm sure. Murray was kind enough to donate half the proceeds of his CD sales to the club.
Many Thanks to All our performers today ... and we look forward to some interesting surprises at our Christmas function next month.

Our Guest artist was Cheryl Tong on clavinova. Songs included 'Get Me to The Church on Time' (with audience participation), 'Londonderry Air', 'Welcome to Jurassic Park', 'Jazz Exercise No.3' and a Worship Medley. Cheryl was accompanied by son Justin Michael Ng on cello for 'Moon River', 'Moonlight Serenade' and 'Arwen's Vigil'. Cheryl's pupils (Alan Tung, Calum Yeo Guthrie, Corinne Luis) on keyboards and Justin joined in for the last item which was from 'Chorus Line'. Well done everyone, a most entertaining afternoon.

Our guests today were the Accordion Orchestra who played as a group and also some solo performances. They played a variety of music including 'Swan Lake', 'The Can Can', and 'Bubbles'. Alexandra Reike played the 3 pieces she will perform at the World Champs in Russia in two weeks time. All the very best Alexandra we know you will do well!
