May Meeting

Thanks to Colin Crann for providing the arrival music . We got off to a good start with the program as follows:

Following teatime Carol Littlejohn (Clavinova), Ian Jackson (drums) and singer Len took the floor presenting a delightful selection of favourites including You made me love you, My Mother’s Eyes, April Showers, He’ll have to Go, St Louis Blues, 12th Street Rag, Dinah, To each his Own, Is it True what they say about Dixie, Mammy and Dark Town Strutters Ball
Our thanks to all three of you for keeping us well entertained today.

April 2011 Club Day

The afternoon got under way with Barbara McNab playing the Arrival Music on her Tyros 3.

The first 20 minutes was taken up with the AGM which raised no problems and the committee remained for another year.

As is normal on an AGM day we did not have a guest artist, and club members entertained for the afternoon. And a very good afternoon’s entertainment it was!

First up was Colin Crann with “ Ain’t Misbehaving’ and “ For All We Know”
Next came Desire Barrows playing “Prelude” and “ Red Roses for a Blue Lady’
 Jimmy Puppyn on Keyboard gave us “ I Talk to the Trees “ and “Wondering Star”
Robin Brown on Piano gave us “ Endless Love’ and “ Are You Lonesome Tonight”
Dave Hallam then played an arrangement by Robin Brown called “Gifts of Hope” this was really enjoyed. Thanks Robin and Dave.
Allan Powell then entertained with “ Grandfathers Clock” and “ Traveling Light”
Barbara McNab on Keyboard followed Allan playing “ Makin Whoopee” and “ Don’t Get Around Much Anymore”
A change now back to Piano with Allan Dadson playing “ By the Time I get to Phoenix” and “ You Don’t Send me Flowers any More”
To wind up the afternoon Dave Hallam and Rob Powell played a Duet of “ Streets of London”

Creative Keyboard Club March 2011

  March 2011 Club Day

The weather today was rather pleasant for our club day with a nice little breeze coming through the hall.
Our arrival Music was played by Len Osbourne on Keyboard. 
Well done Len, not easy to do with a lot of chatting going on.

Our first player for the afternoon was Katrina Lin on her accordion. She is a pupil of Jessica Chen’s. She is just so sweet and plays so well. We do look forward to seeing her progress.
Next came John Beales with “Can’t take that Away from Me” and “Wait till the Sun Shines Nellie” also on keyboard. Very nice and very much enjoyed thank you John.
Our own Marlene stepped up to the Piano and did a great job entertaining us all with “ Caravan” and “Can you feel the Love Tonight” from of course the Lion King.
Laurie Conder on his Roland Keyboard was next playing 
“ My Happiness” and “ Distant Drums” . The latter came with a story of what the music was about. Most interesting and well played thank you Laurie.
Dorothy Waddell and Friends Julia and Bob Bissett entertained us with piano and songs. “Call Me” , Miss Jones” and another tune 
“ Old Folks”
Last but not least, Dave and his latest Pupil Kate did a duet of 
“ Saturday Night”. Hope we will see a lot more of you Kate! 
 


John Bercich was our Guest Artist for the second half of the Afternoon, and his music was really enjoyed by all. He presented a very varied programme consisting of songs from Jazz, Rock and Roll to Polka and Swing. Thank you so much John . Look forward to a return performance next year!

February 2011 Meeting

 February 2011Meeting
Our first Club of the Year go off to a great start with Jimmy Puppyn playing for the first time the arrival music. Good one Jimmy and a big  thank you.
The program got away with Colin Crann playing “ Come Fly with Me” and “Fooling Myself” .
Colin also came back a little later to play a nice rendition of “ Ain’t Necessarily So”
Len Osborne entertained next on his Keyboard with “ Maggie” and “ Whispering”
Ken Mahy was third with “ The Way We Were” and “ What a Wonderful World”
Gordon Sutherland play two of my favorite pieces that he plays “ Besame Mueso” and “ Morning In Cornwall”
And last but definitely very enjoyable came Allan Dadson with “ Scene D’Amour” and “ Michelle”.
Afternoon tea follow which seemed to create a lot of noise with all the friendly chatter!
Murray Hancox then set up the Yamaha Tyros 4 that he had bought with him and the second half got underway. Though it was a very very hot afternoon, no one minded at all as Murray was in fine form!
He started with “ Cavatina” and wonderful tunes followed:
Whiter Shade of Pale,         Call Me,     Cherish,  Unchain My Heart
 Darktown Strutters Ball (lot of fun with this one)
Californa  Dreaming,          Georgia (with a little help from Dave)
Have I told you lately that I love you,      Winchester Cathedral, and  Day Dream Believer  
 We look forward to Murray gracing our door again soon!

December 2010 Meeting

Well, what a great day we had for our final one for 2010.

The afternoon got away to a great start with Laurie Conder playing some very nice Arrival Music. Thank you so much Laurie.
The Programe then started with:

Barbara McNab playing the first 15 minute slot with "Imagine" "Wonderland by Night"on Tryos 3 and then on the CVP 409 she played "The Swinging Shepherd Blues"and "Oaklahoma Medley'"

Chris Larking then entertained us with the help of Aria (singing) and Ros (on Viola) with a selection on Carols : "Jingle Bells" "Xmas Song" "Silent Night"and "O Holy Night" Thank you to all three of you.

Barbara, Rob and Dorothy then played for us on Organ, Piano and Tryros 3 the following tunes.
1. Beautiful Sunday , 2  Happy Wanderer,  3 Theme from the Titanic  and lastly Spagetti Rag.

Dave  Hallam then finished our first half with his version of "Jingle Bell Rock" "Its Alright with Me" "When Xmas Comes to Town" and  There will never be another You"

After tea, the many Xmas Hamper raffles were drawn making a lot of people very pleased with their wins.

Taka Lida started our second segment on his D-Deck machine  playing great numbers. "Raiders of the Lost Ark" "Theme from Star Wars"and Time to say Goodbye"

Too finish the afternoon a rousing few numbers from Carol Littlejohn on Piano, Ian Jackson on Drums and their friend Len singing. "I'm Dreaming of a White Xmas " "I saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus" "Rock a Bye My Baby", "My Blue Heaven"and Winter Wonderland"

I'm sure everyone enjoyed this happy afternoon.

Creative Keyboard Club November Meeting

November

Our November meeting got under way with lovely arrival music played by John Beale on his Yamaha Keyboard. Many thanks for this John. It is not easy to do with everyone chatting and getting organized.

Laurie Conder was our first entertainer playing his Roland Keyboard. He played "Amazing Grace"and "Alley Cat"
Catrina Lin - who is one of Jessica Chen's pupils entertained us on her accordian next and was indeed very sweet and played beautifully.
Jimmy Puppyn came next with a very nice arrangment of "Pennies from Heaven"and " Come Fly with me"on her keyboard
Next we had a special treat in Tina and Cindy Yang who are Piano pupils and neighbours of Dorothy's. They each play two lovely pieces.
Robin Brown was next playing piano "Bach's Prelude"and "True Love" Repeating  "True Love" and playing along with John Stent in his Jazzy style!
Allan Dadson gave us a lovely version on Piano of "If you love Me" and "Feelings"
Dorothy Waddell finished the afternoon with a great performance of "The Cloisters" The setup she had was amazing showing what can be done with our Clavinova Piano. At times one would think she was playing Organ! Great one Dorothy.

Afternoon tea was once again a very chatty affair, as everyone seems to look forward to a good chat before settling down to our Guest Artist Kane Steves.
Kane played first on the PA1X  " Tears from Heaven" then moving to the PA 588 Portable Piano
He played a great range of tunes for us "Endless Love"  "Hooked on a Feeling"   Saving all My Love" "Cabaret" "All of me" ending with "Silent Night" and "Wishing you a Very Merry Xmas"

October 2010 Meeting

Our October meeting got away to a great start with Ian Jackson entertaining us with great arrival music. Thanks Ian.
This afternoon was a gathering of local clubs who we knew would enjoy the lovely Music of Sheryl Clark our Guest for the afternoon. We were so very right about this as Sheryl was a delight to watch and listen too. Do come again soon Sheryl!

The afternoon started with a representive from each club playing in the first half.
Barbara McNab played "Sailor" and "Bolero"
Roy Steen from Hibiscus Organ Club was next and he choose to play a selection on Tunes on the Clavinova.
Peter Littlejohn then represented the Takapuna Keyboard Club playing "Suspicious Minds" and a Medley of "After the Loving" and "Can't Smile without You"

Vince Keene  then representing the Organ Society of New Zealand
Played on Piano "it isn't fair" " Again" and We've Only Just Begun"

Dave Hallam then concluded our first half of the afternoon with "Alexanders Ragtime Band"
"Harlem Nocturn"  and "What a Wonderful World"
