Creative Keyboard Club September 2018 Meeting

The arrival music was played by Rob Powell (via USB on the clavinova) and the MC was Marlene Forrest.
Our Program …
Our guest Chris Larking started the afternoon. Chris introduced several of his young pupils (pianoforte) and son Alex who played tenor sax ('Amazing Grace' with dad on clavinova).
It was great seeing the children getting their first taste of performing live and gaining confidence. Chris's songs included 'Edelweiss', 'Girl From Ipanema', 'Popcorn', 'Wind Beneath my Wings', 'Fly Me To The Moon', 'Wave'. Chris ended with a medley consisting of  'Song Of Joy', 'Rule Britannia', 'Waltzing Matilda', 'Advance Australia Fare' and our NZ National Anthem.
Our second guest today was Chloe Vaughen a very talented young singer and tap dancer. Chloe performed an 'Annie' medley of song and dance and later on in the afternoon returned with 'I'm Not That Girl' and 'Tennessee Waltz'

Quite a diverse array of performers today … a BIG Thank-you to All for taking the time and performing so well. We all know the amount of time and effort it can take to get up there and do it!

Roy Steen on keyboard with 'Volare' and the 'Slightly Out of Tune' (Desafindo)
Our guest artist was Carole Littlejohn all the way from Papamoa. Carole played the clavinova and had brought along her pupil Steevie. Carole started with 'Stand By Me' and tunes included 'City of Stars', 'I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues', 'It's Now Or Never' and ended with a medley ('Only You', 'Can't Help Falling In Love').
Steevie played 'Perfect' and 'Harmonic Blues' (with beat) on clavinova.
Carole and Steevie dueted on clavinova with a medley of 'Boogie Woogie Blues', 'Rock Candy Mountain' and 'Saturday Night'.
Our very own Creative Trio (Marlene Forrest, Barbara and Rob Powell) also joined Carole on their keyboards with 'You Light Up My Life', 'Blue Tango' and a medley ('Tie A Yellow Ribbon', 'Quando Quando', 'On The Bayou' and 'Mamma Mia').

Creative Keyboard Club June 2018 Meeting

Marlene Forrest was once again MC for the occasion and the arrival music was played on keyboard by Peter Jackson.

Diana Dreenean on keyboard with 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' and 'The Air That I Breath'
Peter Jackson on vocals with backing music from his keyboard 'Let there Be Love' and 'When You Say Nothing At All'
Mary Barrett on keyboard with 'The Lady Is A Tramp' and 'Little Arrows'
Denise Gunson on clavinova with 'Cavatina' and 'Come Fly With Me'
After the raffles were drawn and a cuppa Ben Fernandez entertained on clavinova (and new drum machine). Ben played an assortment of styles, Latin American, Swing, Tango, Waltz. Songs included 'Love Story Theme', 'Fly Me To The Moon', 'Spanish Eyes', 'Walk In The Black Forest', 'Paper Roses', 'Que Sera Sera', 'Autumn Leaves' (demonstrating a shift from Latin to Swing beats), 'Amore'. Ben's 8 year old son Joshua played a very competent 'Havana' on clavinova showing he is following very much in his dad's footsteps! A very pleasant and entertaining afternoon.

Our guest today was Taka Iida on his Stagea. Taka's performance included 'Frozen' (Disney), a latin bracket including 'Girl From Ipanema', 'Wave'. Old favourites included 'Night and Day', 'I Will always Love You', 'Saving All My Love For You',  'A Whiter Shade of Pale' and a Choir segment. Very much enjoyed as always Taka.

After the meeting Denise Gunson performed on clavinova with 'Send In The Clowns' and 'Night And Day'
Lynn and Allan Powell then entertained after the tea break. Songs included 'Welcome to My World', 'Singing The Blues', 'Waltz Across Texas'. 'Send Me The Pillow', 'Funny Face', Ten Guitars', 'You Can Dance', 'Forget To Remember' and ' Love Me Tender'. Thank You All for stepping up today and at such short notice.

Our guest was Jim Joll and this was his debut at the club. Jim is a fine guitarist, singer, comedian and compere and entertained with many well known country songs encouraging us to sing-a-long. Songs included 'Lil Ole Wine Drinker Me', 'Welcome To My World', 'Memories are Made Of This', 'I Walk The Line', 'Rhinestone Cowboy'. Instrumentals also with 'Cavatina' and 'Summer Wind'. Much appreciated Jim.
